Costs and Delivery Times

The document delivery service is funded by CMU and we pay the cost of shipping books and photocopies of articles to you. The only costs you incur are the cost of shipping books back to CMU (insurance on the shipment is recommended; information on returning books is provided when we ship books to you) and overdue fines, if any.  You do not need to return article photocopies to us; they are yours to keep.

Requests for materials are normally processed within 24 - 48 hours of receipt.

  • If your material is available in the CMU Library, we will respond by sending it to you as soon as possible.
  • If your article is not available in the CMU library collection, we can try to get it from another library through interlibrary loan. If your not needed after date (i.e. receiving the item after this date will be too late) is more than 4 weeks away, we will automatically submit your request through interlibrary loan. If your not needed after date is less than 4 weeks, we will ask you if you want us to try interlibrary loan.
